Proposal for the Joint Laboratory

To fill this worldwide gap in Translational Neurotechnology, our proposal is to introduce, with an accelerated pace, the results of Cuba and China research in these areas and obtain competitive products to ameliorate the burden in our countries and commercialize them to obtain profits for both governments and the entire world. The only answer to the huge worldwide Global Burden of Disease of Brain Disorders is harnessing cutting-edge Neurotechnology to provide e-medicine solutions, for all levels of health care, for all countries.

This project aims to unify the strengths of research and development of UESTC, China and Cuba Neuroscience Center in the field of BCI, EEG and MRI in order to study of the neural mechanisms based neuro-technique for diagnosis and intervention of brain disorders. Especially Initial projects will accelerate current work by both groups in new neuro-active molecules, brain-computer interfaces, real time EEG/fMRI neurofeedback, neuromodulators and neurostimulators, kinematics and neurorobotics. These results will be integrated with ICT solutions to ensure widespread deployment.

This joint- lab will develop different particular projects with the intention to accelerate the introduction of scientific research in trans-lational Neurotechnology to the clinical practice in both countries and develop new products to be commercialized in international markets.

Rights, benefits and related full or partial results from the actions carried out within the framework of this project, will be protected and negotiated in each of the projects listed in this document by a specific contract.

All information related to the project tasks cannot be disclosed or published to third parties without the consent of each of the parties involved in this project. The terms of confidentiality of the scientific information or other, will be detailed in each of the projects.

Objectives

  • Development of new radiopharmaceuticals for early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease by means of PET, SPECT or MRI image. Modifications of the compounds will evaluated for therapeutic effectiveness. This work will be enhanced by developments in targeted drug delivery with nanomaterials.

  • Brain Computer Interfaces and Neurofeedback in real time to modify altered brain circuits for the treatment other neurological and psychiatric disorders.

  • Smartphone and other technologies for the evaluation and treatment of sensory and cognitive impairments, neurological disorders and normal and pathological aging, including remote sensing based cognitive and affective computing.

  • Innovate wearable brain/body imagining for the diagnosis and treatment of movement disorders

  • Innovative software for planning and monitoring of neurosurgery

  • Cutting edge innovative techniques for brain MRI applications in clinic and research using the Chinese industrial platform of Alltech in Chengdu.
