  Joint China-Cuba Lab is Accepting Outstanding Young Scientists

  Within the Outstanding Young Scientists Program (Overseas) of

         National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC)

I. Introduction of the Program

The Outstanding Young Scientists Program (Overseas) of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) aims to accept excellent young overseas scholars (including the non-Chinese) in the field of natural science, engineering, and technology to work in China.

 

II. About UESTC

UESTC is a Chinese national key university under “project 211” and “project 985”, and a class A double First-Class university. The UESTC is in Chengdu, traditionally known as “Country of Heaven”. Chengdu has developed into one of the world’s top 40 cities by scientific research and one of the most vibrant international and cultural bubs in West China.

 

III. About Joint China-Cuba Lab

The lab studies the human neural bases of social-emotion and cognition and the associated vulnerability patterns in normal people and specially in aging. Multimodal neuroimaging and psychophysical techniques are employed, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI, diffusion tensor imaging, and electroencephalography (EEG). Key attractions are access to a 3T GE MR scanner and a MR compatible digital EEG system as well as collaboration opportunities with an excellent network of domestic and international scientists and doctors. 

 

IV. Funding and Remuneration

  1. Start-up funding is in total up to $6 million.

  2. At least $1.8 million for settlement

  3. $550,000 for Annual income

  4. At least 3 years of full-time working in China

  5. Application will be due to April 30,2021.

 

V. Requirements.

1. He or she was born after September 1st, 1980.

2. He or she has been working in an overseas university, research institution, or corporate R&D institution more than 36 months continuously by April 30, 2021; but this requirement could be relatively flexible for those who have obtained a PhD degree overseas with particularly outstanding performance.

3. He or she has achievements recognized by peer experts and is with potential to lead the field.

4. He or She is willing to work in China full-time or has been working in China since September 1st, 2019. He/she must have resigned or be out of work when is approved of application and be able to work in China full-time for at least 3 years.
