PROJECT 4:  Neurotherapeutic Devices

TARGET:
Development of neurostimulation devices and application of the neuronal activity in the treatment of neuro - psychiatric disorders.

DESCRIPTION:
Transcutaneous nerve stimulation is a very new noninvasive technique of neuromodulation. It is very useful in the treatment of some resistant disease like Depression, Epilepsy and Migraine. Few developed countries have been introduced this technique in the clinical practice, but the results are excellent. It is an expensive technique, but its efficacy is high, and adverse effects are low in comparison with other techniques.
We can build the conditions to design and make them between Chengdu and Havana and benefit many patients with this non-pharmacological intervention being the first time of the implementation in both countries of a large-scale study.
In Cuba there are prestigious professionals that could applied this technology and could be possible to do a multicentric clinical trial.
We are very interest in investigate the exactly mechanism that transcutaneous nerve stimulation act in nervous system structures, because it is an under known field.
The aims of this project are:  push the translational research in neurosciences introducing a new tool for treats some important health targets like depression, epilepsy and migraine, introduce neuromodulation techniques in Chengdu and Havana and create a laboratory of Neuromodulation techniques in Cuba and China and the possibility of generate common patents between Cuba and China in relation with those devices.

PATENT SITUATION:
Under evaluation

PROJECT STATUS:
Phase state of the art review and discussion of the most feasible application devices from the technical, economic and commercial points of view.

REQUESTED KIND OF COLLABORATION:

Co- development, support of funding, technology and training.
Cuban can support the 3D impression and carcasses fabrication, white room fabrication and the clinical neurophysiology expertise to design the appropriate clinical trials.
UESCT of Chengdu would support design capacity, electronic fabrication of devices and chips fabrications for devices.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES AND MILESTONES:
Application advantages in the regions of Latin America, where there are no references to application of this technology, as the leading countries in relation to it are USA, Germany, Canada and England.
